One never knows the exact story arc a given workout will take from start to finish.  Today’s installment of The Blitz ™ was no exception.  From voyeuristic observations of domestic activities to in-depth discussion of the ill-fated term of one U.S. President, and a little Old Testament thrown in for good measure, this is how it all went down:

Wander down to basketball courts for WarmUps:  IW’s, Mountain Climbers, GM’s, SSH’s and Halos

Grab a like-belled partner and head over to the track for KB Chasers:

  • Lap 1:  P1 farmer carries both bells. P2 does 5 hand-release mericans and chases down P1.  Once P2 catches P1, each partner does 10 two-armed KB swings.  Flapjack around the track.  LBC’s until all finish.
  • Lap 2:  P1 farmer carries both bells.  P2 does 5 sumo squats and chases down P1.  Once P2 catches P1, each partner does 10 goblet squats.  Flapjack around the track.  Plank set until all finish.

Head back over to basketball courts for KB COP:

  • Set 1:  Single-armed KB swings x 10 (each arm), Squat-to-High Pull x 20, Curls x 20
  • Set 2:  Single-armed KB swings x 10 (each arm), Squat-to-High Pull x 20, Tricep Extension x 20
  • Musical Interlude #1:  Head over to the ramp near first court. Lunge walk up the ramp with your bell. At the top, carry bell over your head until you reach the stairs down to the basketball courts.
  • Set 3:  Single-armed snatches x 10 (each arm), Shoulder presses x 20, Single-legged deadlifts x 10 (each leg), Skull-crushers x 20
  • Musical Interlude #2:  same as Musical Interlude #1, only later

Circle back to Parking Lot for quick set of Boat (with Oars) / Canoe (with Paddles)

Thought of the Day:  In the New Testament, Jesus tells his followers that the greatest commandments are to love the Lord with all of your heart, mind, soul and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself. This is a summation of the original 10 commandments found in the Old Testament – the first four commandments address how we demonstrate our love for God, while the last six address how we are to love other people. Jesus’ life and teachings provide much greater depth and understanding of these commandments, but the core message remains unchanged from the original tablets given to Moses – love God, and love others.

NMM:

  • Solid representation from the Roanoke Park contingent today. Quite the revelation that our brother Munson enjoys the occasional KB workout in his backyard, although the exact meaning of the “Backyard Solo” was the subject of much debate.  Curiously, this knowledge was dropped by Joule, who apparently keeps rather close tabs on the comings and goings of our resident King of Pins.
  • #Cobains to Mick for the not-so-knee-friendly workout.  The Poet Laureate continued to grind through without complaint, 50lb KB and all.  Respect.
  • Coffeeteria discussion focused on the most unfortunate and rapid demise of one William Henry Harrison, our beloved 9th President and namesake of a newly-formed Oaks BRR team. Old Tippecanoe died a mere 32 days after taking office. There is so much more to his story though. #NowYouKnow
  • Coming Attractions:  Krispy Kreme Challenge (this Saturday), The Mule (3/5), The Bull (3/12), MudRun (registration details coming soon)
  • Prayers for Pergo’s sister (adoption process), Nessman’s father-in-law (prostate cancer), Orwell

As always, an honor and a pleasure.  Aye.
